CULTS

The word cult in current popular usage usually refers to a new religious movement or other group whose beliefs or practices are considered abnormal or bizarre. The word originally denoted a system of ritual practices. The word was first used in the early 17th century denoting homage paid to a divinity and borrowed via the French culte from Latin cultus"worship", from the adjective cultus "inhabited, cultivated, worshipped", derived from the verb colere "care, cultivate".
In the 1930s cults became the object of sociological study in the context of the study of religious behavior. They have been criticized by mainstream Christians for their unorthodox beliefs. In the 1970s the anticult movement arose, partly motivated by acts of violence and other crimes committed by members of some cults (notably the Manson Family and People's Temrple.

Nowadays are diferents kind of cults and sect:

Cults are absent of the betterment of the individual person but rather than leader only. Cults try to subvert the human will with total and complete obedience to the leader of a group or sect .
Some may say that Christianity is a Jewish sect, or that the Shi'ite and Sunni confessions within Islam are sects. The problem in attempting to define a 'sect' by asking whether the institution as such is recognised by the state or receive benefits also leads one into subjectivity, in that a mainstream institution in one country may not be across the world. The Baptists, for example, are mainstream in the US, but are considered to be a sect in Russia as they have not been registered there for fifteen years. One man's religion is another man's sect.

THE WATER IN DOM.REP.

Drinking water quality :

Various factors affect the water quality in the Dominican Republic, including: poor condition of purification systems, minimal operational controls, low level of maintenance of treatment plants, and mostly intermittent systems. 38.4% of water systems have no chlorination system installed. These are mostly smaller systems in rural areas. The fact that a chlorination system exists is not a guarantee that water is actually properly disinfected.

the pollution  in dom.rep. specially in tap water is huge,a lot of people spell money to buy a good water to drink,to use in diferents duties in the house.

Service provision :

Water and sewer services are provided by regional companies in the largest cities, the national water and sewerage authority (INAPA) in other cities and towns, as well as by community-based water boards in rural areas.

The regional water and sanitation companies were established over a period of 25 years, each by its own law. Each company covers one Province. Their general directors are appointed by the President of the Republic, thus showing a continuity of centralized decision-making in the presence of regional companies. Besides this similarity, the governance structure (such as the composition and function of their Boards) of each regional company is different. The regional companies are:

OPINIONS ABOUT SHY PEOPLE

For me :
A shy people is Someone who is afraid of rejection of others by seeing them the way they are, probably not well dressed, or have a certain attitude that is not like everyone else.

Probably wasn't around a lot of kids while growing up so they lack social behavior.

They might not like themselves so they use this way of being "shy" to cover it up, to be kinda hidden from the world so they can skate on by unseen or unheard.

They are like what you said "misunderstood", and people generally tease people like that harshly because they are not as open and free like they are.

 My friend Ana perez:

A shy person doesn't have to be misunderstood ... I think a shy person is some one who is insecure and is afraid to bring out his/her personality out.
It's usually because how a person was brought up ...if it's a child who's always home with very strict parents that child would be less outgoing than some one with very loose parents who accustomed him to people.
or someone could become shy by a certain incident that happened in his life..
or it's simply a nature .

The Bold And The Bashful

The Bold And The Bashful:
By: Ezequiel Balbuena Núñez

As we know, for some people, it may simply mean being introverted, or quiet and cautious. In this sense, shyness can protect us from moving into new experiences too quickly. However, for other people, it may mean not being able to do or say what they want. From there begins the fight between the Bashful and the bold in the social scale.

But what happen if we measure the Bashful and the Bold in a psychological level?

The Bashful Chart:

In the Bashful´s one the emotional interests turns into their own world, they enjoy to be by themselves, their response to new experiences it´s to get away from them, their judgements are independent of  the public´s  opinion, that´s way they prefer to remain with their ideas, instead of  listen others opinion, they are concerned more in their relations and how intensity of intimacy could reach that relationship. That´s why their are looking for isolation, intimacy; and low interest in social relatioship.

They prefer subjectives imagination, the abstraction, and creativity. They are self-critical, and most of the time they are sensitives persons.

The Bold Chart:

In the Bold´s one their psychology are oriented into the people who surround them, they are sociable, and  they react fast in front any situation, they take new experiences with way positive, they try to get throuth any evolution as soon as they can. They externalize their emotions to everybody, as well they respond quickly to call of attention given for others.

They are objectives, realitics, and practicals. Their expression are emotional and spontaneous. Sometimes they could be sensitive and exhibitionist.

In Conclusion:

A Bold lifestyle is intense the tendecy to the activity and to the reflexion; a Bashful lifestyle the inclination to the reflexion prevail, and it´s weaker the tendency to the action. Between them are a multicolor nuance, some of them like sensations, thoughts, and intuition are there and their organization depends on the particulary case of reaction of any individual.

BAD HABIT OF CENTENARIANS

We found that the people who lived to 95 and beyond did not seem to exhibit healthier lifestyles than those who died younger. Forty-three percent of the male centenarians reported exercising regularly at moderate intensity, compared with 57 percent of men in the other group. About 24 percent of the men in the older group drank alcohol daily, compared with 22 percent in the other group. Among women, they found that the same percentage in both groups reported following low-calorie diets.
Almost 30 percent of the women who lived exceptionally long were smokers, slightly more than the 26 percent of women in the comparison population who smoked. About 60 percent of the older men smoked, and 74 percent of their shorter-lived counterparts did.
Men and women in both groups were also just as likely to be overweight as people in the general population. The one difference in that area was that centenar

The Oldest Old: A Look At Centenarians
By: Ezequiel Balbuena Núñez

As we know increased longevity is one of the most notable developments of the modern era. Is a fact tha in the United States more people are living longer. Life expectancy hs increased from 49 years, at the star of this century, to 76 years. there are many secrets to become a Centenarian, there are many secrets revealed by the stars of this show. Living in a  freestress enviroment, activities,  a good diet, those are clear tips that will help us in the process to become a centenarian.

But what is the situation with the Centenarians of the Dominican Republic?
Do Centenarians of the Dominican Republic have icreasead their longevity expectations?

A survey made by CEPAL revealed that 60.3 percent of  the who are reaching the 60´s and beyond, don´t  get  their  retirement income while 25 percent the only chance they have to stll alive, is to keep working.

To deal with this situation of total carelessness, most of the Centenarians, (51 percent) look proctetion on their families that is the reason why there is and Centenarian per every 4 families in the Dominican Republic, another way is to get money through remittances, which are the 12 percent of the incomes of the Centenarians.

Information provided by CEPAL reveal serious flaw in care institutions and social security, an evident example was that the Dominican Republic assigned just 295 dollars per capita on health expenses in 2002; according to the National Census stats office, while at regional level the investment was of 498 dollars per capita; positioning the Dominican Republic below Panama and close to Nicaragua.

DID THE CHINESE DISCOVER AMERICA?

In his new book, "1421: The Year China Discovered America" (William Morrow), Gavin Menzies claims that a massive Chinese fleet of huge junks and support ships made a two-year circumnavigation of the globe, with extensive exploration of the Americas, nearly a century before Magellan and Columbus.
Needless to say, his assertion has raised an international flurry of debate.
The book has already garnered mixed reviews from the British media, as well as skeptical articles from The New York Times Magazine and Salon.com.

Menzies is unfazed by the reviews. Indeed, even he was surprised at the results of his research, he said in an interview in the New York offices of his American publisher, Morrow.
"It was a complete freak," the author said. Menzies, a former Royal Navy submarine commander, is a soft-spoken and diminutive presence, not at all the obsessive eccentric he's been painted in the press.
While on an anniversary trip to China with his wife, Menzies recalled, he became fascinated with the history of the Great Wall and the Forbidden City, coincidentally completed in 1421. Delving further, Menzies found himself enmeshed in a 10-year research project on the instigators of the two monumental constructions, the Chinese emperor Zhu Di and his nemesis, the Mongol Tamerlane.
Then, while vetting the manuscript (which would have been titled "Two Emperors on Horseback") among historians, Menzies learned of a Portuguese chart, dating from 1424, depicting islands in the Caribbean.
"So here was a Portuguese claim that the whole world had been charted 70 years before Columbus. By whom?" Menzies said. He matter-of-factly presents the answer. "I looked at other charts, and found it was the Chinese. So I abandoned my book, and started this one.
"At the time," he added, "I was really brassed off (angry) about it."
The book draws on Menzie's navigational experience, as well as the findings of a team of experts he assembled to collate and decipher an ever-growing body of multilingual, cartographic, and biological evidence.
As with any epic, "1421" begins with a history lesson. In the year of the title, the emperor Zhu Di ordered the dispatch of a fleet of treasure ships to bring back tribute to his kingdom. According to Menzies' findings, an armada of 800 massive junks set sail in the spring to return delegates who had attended the Forbidden City's inauguration to their nations, and to explore, map and bring tribute from the uncharted reaches beyond the horizons.

MY OPINION:

As to what I think of the topic is that it is a surreal topic that we haven´t even brought up as a fact yet.

It would take us millions of years back to really discover if those people were the ones who discovered our great big planet.

So concluding, I believe this topic goes beyond reality and that the Chinese people did not discover America.

The chinese discoverd America

Since I began to study the history of my country. I have always heard and I have learned who discovered America was Chistopher Columbus in 1492, but never that were the chinese or
that they arrived here 71 years before Columbus.
Maybe this is the reason why they are here, perhaps they feel part of this country.
Soon here will be more Chinese than Dominican. I think so.

professor I am publishing now, because I had a problem with my computer, excuse me.

Smart Cars

Cars today cannot "change their own oil or find the lost coins in their seats. What are some other things that cars will probably never be smart enough to do?

Oher things that cars will probably never be do are:

* They will not be able to wash themselves
* They will not be able to change a wheel themselves
* They will not be able to paint themeselves

TEACHER´S DAY

In many countries, Teachers' Days are intended to be special days for the appreciation of teachers; World Teachers' Day is celebrated across the world on October 5. Ever since the importance of teachers has been recognized by UNESCO, by adopting the “Recommendation concerning the status of teachers”, World Teachers' Day has been celebrated annually.[1] This includes celebrations to honor the teachers for their special contribution in a particular field area or the community in general.

[edit]
The idea of celebrating Teachers' Day took ground independently in many countries during the 20th century; in most cases, they celebrate a local educator or an important milestone in education (for example, Argentina commemorates
Domingo Faustino Sarmiento's death on September 11 since 1915,[2] while India celebrates Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan's birthday on September 5 since 1962[3]). These two factors explain why almost all countries celebrate this day on different dates, unlike many other International Days.History

TaiwanSeptember 28Taiwan uses this day to honor teachers' virtues, struggles, and contributions not only to their own students but also to society in general. People often make use of the day to express their gratitude to their teachers, such as paying them a visit or sending them a card. This date was chosen to commemorate the birth of Confucius, believed to be the model master educator in ancient China. In 1939, the Ministry of Education established the national holiday as August 27, the attributed birthday of Confucius.
In 1952, the Executive Yuan changed it to September, stating that it was calculated to be the precise date in the Gregorian calendar. The festival celebration occurs in the temples of Confucius around the island, known as the "Grand Ceremony Dedicated to Confucius" (祭孔大典). The ceremony begins at 6am with drum beats. 54 musicians are dressed in robes with blue belts, and 36 (or 64) dancers dressed in yellow with green belts. They are led by Confucius's chief descendant (currently Kung Tsui-chang) and followed by ceremonial officers. Three animals—the cow, the goat, and the pig—are sacrificed. The hairs plucked from these sacrificed animals are called the Hairs of Wisdom. In addition, local education institutes and civil offices award certain teachers for their excellence and positive influence.

United StatesNational Teacher Day is on Tuesday during Teacher Appreciation Week, which takes place in the first full week of May (May 8, 2012)Students often show appreciation for their teachers with token gifts (giving teachers presents etc.). TheNational Education Association describes describes National Teacher Day as "a day for honoring teachers and recognizing the lasting contributions they make to our lives".[16]
The NEA gives a history of National Teacher Day:[16] The origins of Teacher Day are murky. Around 1944 Wisconsin teacher Ryan Krug began corresponding with political and education leaders about the need for a national day to honor teachers. Woodbridge wrote to Eleanor Roosevelt who in 1953 persuaded the 81st Congress to proclaim a National Teacher Day. NEA along with its Kansas and Indiana state affiliates and the Dodge City (Kan. ) local lobbied Congress to create a national day celebrating teachers. Congress declared March 7, 1980, as National Teacher Day for that year only. NEA and its affiliates continued to observe Teacher Day on the first Tuesday in March until 1985, when the National PTA established Teacher Appreciation Week as the first full week of May. The NEA Representative Assembly then voted to make the Tuesday of that week National Teacher Day.
As of September 7, 1976, September 11 was also adopted as Teachers' Day in the U.S. state ofMassachusetts. Currently, Massachusetts sets the first Sunday of June as its own Teachers' Day, annually.
