The Oldest Old: A Look At Centenarians

As we know increased longevity is one of the most notable developments of the modern era. Is a fact tha in the United States more people are living longer. Life expectancy hs increased from 49 years, at the star of this century, to 76 years. there are many secrets to become a Centenarian, there are many secrets revealed by the stars of this show. Living in a  freestress enviroment, activities,  a good diet, those are clear tips that will help us in the process to become a centenarian.

But what is the situation with the Centenarians of the Dominican Republic?
Do Centenarians of the Dominican Republic have icreasead their longevity expectations?

A survey made by CEPAL revealed that 60.3 percent of  the who are reaching the 60´s and beyond, don´t  get  their  retirement income while 25 percent the only chance they have to stll alive, is to keep working.

To deal with this situation of total carelessness, most of the Centenarians, (51 percent) look proctetion on their families that is the reason why there is and Centenarian per every 4 families in the Dominican Republic, another way is to get money through remittances, which are the 12 percent of the incomes of the Centenarians.

Information provided by CEPAL reveal serious flaw in care institutions and social security, an evident example was that the Dominican Republic assigned just 295 dollars per capita on health expenses in 2002; according to the National Census stats office, while at regional level the investment was of 498 dollars per capita; positioning the Dominican Republic below Panama and close to Nicaragua.
