Did The Chinese Discover America ?

Menzies, a retired British submarine commander an amateur historian, has written a book, 1421: The Year the Chinese Discovered the World. This book is based on his theory that the Chinese arrived on American shores 71 years before Christopher Colombus. His says that in the first half o t fifteen century China was a naval superpower and he also says that the map European explorer used was made by Chinese.

Then I wonder, what if Menzies is true and the diseases the Europeans brought to America wiped out 90% of the descendants of the Chinese mariners. Maybe we were a mixture between Chinese and Europeans, well the thing is that I can trust his theory, because as Europeans wiped out Chinese' descendant on America they did with natives.

The Ups and Downs yo-yos

According to the book yo-yos have been used many years ago, but in that time -500 years B.C- yo-yos were a plaything for grown ups people, they used it because yo-yos were in fashion or to calme the anxiety.

As I remember when I was a child yo-yos were used by children, contrary to the 1950s and 1960s,but now either children nor adults play yo-yos, children prefer video games and adults are so busy to play.
Hola profe, es Wendy Santos CC0043, me he cansado de llamarle porque el lunes no pude ir a coger el examen final porque confundí las fechas y fuí el martes a cogerlo. Sé que es una excusa estupida, pero sincera.... Please tell me what to do because I don't want to reprobate the class!!!! :(

the ups and downs of yo-yos

Yo-yos were made far older than i thought according to the pamphlet they were originated about 3000 years ago in China. An also historical record of yo-yos showed that they were incorporated in greece culture long ago as well. As time was passing by, yo-yos were adopted by the aristocracy in the 1700s. they were fashionable symbols of wealth, and many of them were made by different kind of materials such as crystal, jade , ivory and so on. By that time, yo-yos were used to relieving tension for adults, and at the same time they were used by children as a plaything too. when i was younger i had a couples of yo-yos in different colors. they were very popular in my chilhood. i did not know all the yo-yos' tricks, but i knew how to make them sleep for a little while.

About chinese and discover america

In his bestselling book, "1421: The Year China Discovered America," British amateur historian Gavin Menzies turns the story of the Europeans' discovery of America on its ear with a startling idea: Chinese sailors beat Christopher Columbus to the Americas by more than 70 years. The book has generated controversy within the halls of scholarship. Anthropologists, archaeologists, historians and linguists alike have debunked much of the evidence that Menzies used to support his notion, which has come to be called the 1421 theory.
But where did Menzies come up with the idea that it was Asians, not Europeans, who first arrived in America from other countries? It's been long held by scholars that it was people from Asia who first set foot in North America, but not in the way that Menzies describes. Sometime 10,000 years ago or more, people of Asian origination are believed to have crossed over the Bering land bridge from Siberia to what is now Alaska. From there, they are believed to have spread out over the course of millennia, diverging genetically and populating North and South America.
But Menzies' 1421 theory supposes much more direct influence from China. Rather than civilization evolving separately in the Americas and Asia, under the 1421 theory, China was directly involved in governance and trade with the peoples of the Americas with whom they shared their ancestry.
So what evidence does he have to support this notion? It's Menzie's belief that one merely has to refer to certain maps to see the light.
A full 30 years before Gavin Menzies published his book, Baptist missionary Dr. Hendon M. Harris perused the curiosities in a shop inTaiwan. It was there he made an amazing discovery: a map that looked to be ancient, written in classical Chinese and depicting what to Harris was clearly North America. It was a map ofFu Sang, the legendary land of Chinese fable.
Fu Sang is to the Chinese what Atlantis is to the West -- a mythical land that most don't believe existed, but for which enough tantalizing (yet vague) evidence exists to maintain popularity for the idea. The map the missionary discovered -- which has come to be known as the Harris map -- showed that Fu Sang was located exactly where North America is. Even more amazingly, some of the features shown on the map of Fu Sang look a lot like geographical anomalies unique to North America, such as the Grand Canyon.
As if the Harris map weren't suggestive enough, other maps have also surfaced. It's a specific map that Menzies points to as definitive proof that the Chinese had already explored the world long before the Europeans ever set sail in the age of exploration. This map, known as the 1418 map-- so called for the date it was supposedly published -- clearly shows all of the world's oceans, as well as all seven continents, correct in shape and situation. Even more startling is the map's accurate depiction of features of North America, including the Potomac River in the Northeast of the present-day United States.
Menzies believes that not only had the Chinese already explored the world before Columbus and other European explorers, but that it was with Chinese maps that the Europeans were able to circumnavigate the globe. Armed with the map as his flagship evidence, Menzies points out plenty of other artifacts that point to Chinese pre-Columbian occupation in the Americas. Read the next page to find out what supports his theory.

A new version of yo-yos around the world

Coke japan2006 red
Japanese "80s revival' yo-yos sold with Coca-Cola branded soda bottles in 2006.
Coca-Cola Company branded yo-yos are the most cross-collected brand of yo-yos, apart from World Fair yo-yos, meaning that they are both sought after by yo-yo collectors and the collectors of Coca-Cola memorabilia. The company has been producing advertising yo-yos and sponsoring contests for decades, the most memorable being the partnership with Russell in the 1970's and 1980's. The role the company has played in the production of yo-yos cannot be under-emphasized, with the wide appeal of the yo-yos the production has led to less expensive, higher quality yo-yos throughout the world.
Although the company did sponsor events in the United States, the number of promotions were limited compared to the foreign yo-yo promotions. Since the Coca-Cola sponsored yo-yos produced by the Russell company started in the 1960's, hundreds of different models has been produced. These include allied brands such as Fanta, Sprite and Fresca.

smart cars and more

After a period of backing byVolkswagen, the first model was finally launched by Daimler-Benz in October 1998. Several variants on the original design have been introduced, with the original design, called the Fortwo, now in its second generation and available as an electric version.
Smart models are marketed globally, including in Asia, North and South America, Australia and in Europe—and have been the basis for conversions and design modifications by third parties, includingelectric conversions and performance upgradesBrabus-tuned production models are widely available.

OriginsEdit

In the late 1980s, SMH (makers of the Swatchbrand of watches) CEO Nicolas Hayek began developing an idea for a new car using the same type of manufacturing strategies and personalization features used to popularize Swatch watches. He believed that the automotive industry had ignored a sector of potential customers who wanted a small and stylish city car. This idea soon became known as the "Swatchmobile". Hayek's private company Hayek Engineering AG began designing the new car for SMH, with seating for two and a hybrid drivetrain.[2]
While design of the car was proceeding, Hayek feared existing manufacturers would feel threatened by the Swatchmobile. Thus, rather than directly competing, he preferred to cooperate with another company in the automotive industry. This would also relieve SMH of the cost burden in setting up a distribution network. Hayek approached several automotive manufacturers and on July 3, 1991, he reached an agreement withVolkswagen to share development of the new project.[3]
By 1993, Ferdinand Piëch had become CEO of Volkswagen and he immediately sought to terminate the project with SMH. Volkswagen had already been working on their own "three-litre car": a car which would consume three litres of fuel per 100 km of driving (the eventual Volkswagen Lupo 3L). Volkswagen's own concept was believed to be a better business proposition, featuring four seats and more cargo room.

THE NAME GAME

HOW CAN YOU NAME YOUR COMPANY???

Hello bloggers, in this opportunity I based this post in a interview that I made to marketing students and professionals.
I took two groups and they answered the following question: WHAT YOU TAKE IN CONSIDERATION TO CHOOSE A NAME FOR A COMPANY?

The first group (the newly graduated), take a name for their company project join parts of their names as a morpheme construction. ARLINIESIS as they called their company is dedicated to sell water filter.

The marketing students took the name of a existing company, named IRAHYDA PRODUCTS that seels cattle, but they make a final project, showing to the public milk products like yogurt and cheese.

J-ball

Contrary to some people think, baseball was first introduced in the Dominican Republic by Cubans in the late 1880s, and not by soldiers of US Army.

Baseball has taken root here and many Dominicans love it, even though it isn't a Dominican game the country has a high percentage of baseball players. In Mayor league Baseball's 2012 Opening Day,95 of the 856, it is an 11.1%, were born in the Dominican Republic.

Our country has produced four MVP Award winners, two Cy Young, seven Rookie of the Year, six Dominican pitchers have thrown a no-hitter game, and we won one World Baseball Clasic .

Did the Chinese Discover America?

According to menzies the chinese arrived on America 71 years before Columbus. The remarkable commander was Zheng He. He was a servant of a duke, Yong Le. Zheng is described as "tall and powerful" the admiral Zheng's flagship was the largest ship, it has 150 meters in length and could carry 1000 passengers. Diferent to columbus ship the Santa Maria was only 25 meters. Chinese carried their own food because they distrusted foreing food, the ship carried bathtub full of earth in which they cultivated fruits and vegetables. According to menzies Nicolo da Conti brought the maps to venice in 1428. For that reason, the menzies's theories support that chinene came to america fist.

The Ups and Downs of Yo- yos

There was a lot of children who played with a Yo- yos, but i think none of them know who the yo-yo originated. The first historical record of yo-yo was in Greece around 500 B.C. They called disc. The most famous brand was Dunca's yo-yo which began on grand scale in1929 by a businessman Donald F. Duncan. He hiring many demostrator from philippines. Then they would perfom some feats with yo-yos and hold yo-yo competitions among local kids. over the next decades, however, yo-yo sales seemed to go and down as oftenas the toy itself did. In 1965 Duncan yo-yo was sued by its competitors. 1999 the A&E network named the yo-yo one of the oldest-known toys.

Smart Cars

Cars today are smart. They have some gadgets o devices, who controlling everything. For instance, video camera to avoid collision when you are moving back, Some car suggest action to the drivers with a voice or a signal or they take all control over it. Some drivers when the cars take all control they feel humdrum because, they are not doing anything. Smart cars will increase. Nevertheless, we need to live with the cars that we have now.

 Did the Chinese Discover America?
Did Chinese sailors really discover America before Columbus? A new exhibition sets the scene, presenting new evidence that lends support to the assumptions made in "1421: The Year China Discovered America" by Gavin Menzies.
there are some Arguing that the Chinese had reached America 70 years before Columbus, Menzies's book caused a stir when it was published in 2002. "Columbus had a map of America, de Gama had a map showing India and Captain Cook had a map showing Australia, and it's not my saying; it's the explorers saying it," the retired British Royal Navy submarine commanding officer said in an interview. "None of the great European explorers actually discovered anything new. The whole world was charted before they set sail. So somebody before them had done it, and that was the basis of the book," he said.

Baseball is expanding in Dominican Republic as mayor league teams are opening brand new academies and creating opportunities for talented young players across the island.

The Dominican Republic is the biggest supplier of baseball players outside the United State. Nearly 30% of opening pay roster this year carried players born outside the United State and the majority of them were from the Dominican Republic. While all 30 teams maintain training facilities in the R.D. only a handful have invested in building their own academy in this island nation.
Did the chinese discover AMERICA?

A copy of a 600-year-old map found in a second-hand book shop is the key to proving that the Chinese, not Christopher Columbus, were the first to discover the New World, a controversial British historian claims.

The document is purportedly an 18th century copy of a 1418 map charted by Chinese Admiral Zheng He, which appears to show the New World in some detail.

This purported evidence that a Chinese sailor mapped the Western Hemisphere more than seven decades before Columbus is just one of Earth-shattering claims that author Gavin Menzies makes in his new book ‘Who Discovered America?’ - out today, just in time for the Columbus Day holiday.

‘The traditional story of Columbus discovering the New World is absolute fantasy, it’s fairy tales,’ Mr Menzies told MailOnline.

Mr Menzies believes that this portion of the map depicts the Chinese mapping of North and South America in 1418 - showing major rivers. Explorer: Chinese Admiral Zheng He is known to have sailed the to Europe and Africa with a massive fleet of ships. Historian Gavin Menzies says he also reached the New World
Among Menzies other claims are that the first inhabitants of the Western hemisphere didn’t come over land from the Bering Strait, but instead were Chinese sailors who first crossed the Pacific Ocean 40,000 years ago.

He also writes that DNA markers prove American Indians and other natives are the descendants of several waves of Asian settlers.

Smart Cars, Intelligent Highways:

The first Smart Car to be invented  was in 1998 by a man named NICOLAS HAYEK, for Mercedes Corporation , Hayek is also the inventor of swatch watches. The smart car became a popular car in Europe.

The smart car is a  small economy  car even smaller  than most that we see. It successfully sold in several countries it was ever released in the U.S. It only two seats, so it no designed for families, but it does have a lot of  cargo space. There are different kind of this car, like a Smart City-Coupe, Smart City-Cabrio ( from 2,000), Smart  Crossblade (from 2,002), Smart K.( Only in Japan), Smart Roadster (2003-2005), Smart Forfour ( 2,004-2,006), Smart Fortwo (2,007) and Smart Fortwo ED. (2,008).

-- Did chinese discover America -- by HECTOR GOMEZ

Hi guys !!

Reading the article about THE CHINESE DISCOVERED AMERICA FIRST THAN EUROPEANS, is againt to everythign we have heard since chilhood up to now. Gavin Menzies, published a very interesting book to read for people who want to know the true of history. But, how did everything start? i´ve brought this litle article to basically explain the begining of the book.
Baptist missionary Dr. Hendon M. Harris perused the curiosities in a shop inTaiwan. It was there he made an amazing discovery: a map that looked to be ancient, written in classical Chinese and depicting what to Harris was clearly North America. It was a map of Fu Sang, the legendary land of Chinese fable.
This map, known as the 1418 map -- so called for the date it was supposedly published -- clearly shows all of the world's oceans, as well as all seven continents, correct in shape and situation.

Menzies points out in this book, History would have been different if china had not stopped its exploration. Can you imagine our culture totally influenced by chinese traditions. At least I would have died hair....

YO-YO HECTOR GOMEZ

Hi guys

After the clas about YO-YOS I was like, is all that true?? i couldn´t believe that YO-YOS have more than 3,000 of being invented beside there are thousands of types and materials. Example: Wood, metal and even clay..

I have collected some infos about this topic wich I would like to share with you all

Lucky Meisenheimer M.D has the Guinness World Record for the largest yo-yo collection with 4251 different yo-yos
The most people yo-yoing at the same time is 2129.  This AYYA world record was achieved at the Orange County Regional History Center in Orlando, FL  1/29/2008

Prior to 1928 yo-yos were called bandalores in the United States
.
The yo-yo had nothing to do with the invention of the guillotine, but many French nobles that played the toy, which was very fashionable at the time, did lose their heads.

The British Association of Toy Retailers voted the Yo-Yo the "Craze of the Century" for the 20th century.
The first patent for a bandalore (yo-yo) in the United States was filed in 1866.

The yo-yo is believed to have originated in China around 1000 BC, but there may have been multiple independent countries of origin.
$10,000.00. In the 1970’s, Linda Sengpiel offered $10,000.00 to anyone who could do her ten-trick routine…nobody collected.
The name yo-yo has been used in the Philippines for hundreds of years to describe the toy.

Lucky Meisenheimer has built a six foot tall statue of a man out of 603 different yo-yos.

Tim Redmond in 2005 made a yo-yo sleep for 16min and 17 seconds for the current world record.

In 1928 Pedro Flores a Filipino immigrant was the first to market the toy by the name of yo-yo in the United States.
The yo-yo was sold as a souvenir for the 1904 world’s fair.

Pedro Flores ran the first yo-yo contest in Santa Barbara, CA in 1928, which started the first yo-yo craze.

The world's largest wood yo-yo is 6 feet tall and weighs 820lbs.  It has been yo-yoed using a 160 foot crane.  It was built by a wood working class in Shakamak, IL.  This yo-yo is part of Lucky Meisenheimer's collection.

The press likened the late 1920s yo-yo fad to a case of measles. They said the yo-yo craze would run it course in a few weeks never to be seen again. Fortunately we have never mounted immunity to the toy and 70 years later millions of yo-yos continue to be sold each year.
The marketing genius Don Duncan bought the yo-yo trademark from Pedro Flores in 1932 and subsequently made the yo-yo a household name. Duncan also invented the Eskimo pie and unfortunately also produced the Duncan parking meter.

In the 1930s Duncan convinced William Randolph Hearst to use his newspapers to promote yo-yo contests. In exchange Duncan required contestants to sell 3 subscriptions to the newspaper for entry in the contest. The first contest promoted in this fashion resulted in 50,000 new subscribers for one newspaper in just 8 weeks.
In the early 1940s yo-yo production almost stopped from the lack of material and manpower due to World War II.

Duncan released its first light up yo-yo in 1950 called the Electric Lighted yo-yo.

In the middle 1950s the first plastic glow yo-yo was produced called the Dyna-Glo
.

Duncan did not own the yo-yo trademark in Canada it was owned by a company called Cheerio. In the U.S. during the 50s this company marketed its yo-yos as “Cheerios”.

The Duncan Company released its new “high tech” model the “Butterfly” in 1958.
Prior to 1965 Duncan was responsible for 85 percent of all yo-yos purchased in the United States.
Duncan lost it trademark to the name yo-yo in 1965 and went bankrupt the same year.
Flambeau Plastics bought the Duncan trademark in 1968 and continues to produce Duncan yo-yos to this day.

In 1968 Abbie Hoffman “walked the dog” with his yo-yo while testifying before a congressional committee and was found in contempt.

President Richard Nixon, shortly before his resignation in 1974, played a yo-yo at the “Grand ole Opry” with country music legend Roy Acuff. Twenty years later the Nixon autographed yo-yo sold at auction for $16,029.00.

At the peak of its production the Duncan factory employed 640 and produced as many as 60,000 yo-yos per day and in 1962, 45 million sold in one year.

A yo-yo was taken on the Space Shuttle Discovery in 1985. Astronauts played the yo-yo while orbiting the earth. They found it was easier to do the trick “around the world” when you weren’t going around the world. Gravity definitely makes the toy more fun.

Yomega released the first yo-yo with an auto return mechanism in 1984.It was called “Yomega the Yo-Yo with a brain.”
Seventeen different collectible models of yo-yos have broken the $1000 mark at auction on eBay.

In 1986 Tommy Smothers made his “YoYo Man” debut on “The Tonight Show” with Johnny Carson.

The National Yo-Yo Museum is located in Chico, CA.

In 1990  "Fast Eddy” McDonald set a world record for yo-yo loops doing 8437 in one hour.

The first modern world yo-yo championships were held in 1992 organized by Dale Oliver, the championships continue to be held annually and attract hundreds of yo-yo competitors from around the world.

The first modern national yo-yo championships were held in 1993 in Chico, CA organized by Bob Malowney. The national championships are an annual event and have been hosted at Chico every year since its inception.

The American Yo-Yo Association was founded in 1993.

The youngest person to win the world yo-yo championships is Takumi Nagase(1999) from Japan at age 12; the oldest is Dale Myrberg(1996) at age 54.

The first female to win the world championships was Jennifer Baybrook(1998) at age 18.

In 1999 Lucky Meisenheimer, M.D. published the first instructional book on collecting yo-yos “Lucky’s Collectors Guide to 20th Century Yo-Yos”.

The most expensive retailed yo-yo is the Duncan Mg at $400.00!

In 2000 Steve Brown introduced; Freehand Play where the yo-yo is not attached to the finger.
Over 2000 different yo-yo tricks are known to currently exist.

Lucky Meisenheimer produces the poster "Lucky's Periodic Table of Yo-Yos" in 2006
.

The American Yo-Yo Association (AYYA) tracks 38 different competitive yo-yo world records.

I remenbered my childhood!!!!!

SMART CARS -Hector Gomez-

Hi guys

Recently we are hearing about intelligence. Smart cellphones, TVs, watches, bagpacks, but nothing like SMART CARS. If asked, i would say, hey I dont know how can this happen because, how can a car be smart. Well, cars are not smart as such, because of they need a mechanical part wich is essential to speed or break, I mean the average cars today have more computing power than before and, more innovations are waited.

I´ve surfed on the web and found smart cars, but one of the most popular en famous is the Smart Fortwo wich is a smart electric drive car with a rear engine and two seater car created by smart GmBH. It was introduced at Paris Motor show in 1998 as a smart city vehicle and right now it is in its second generation. Actually, the name is exact matched to its seating arrangement and capacity. Being an electric version car, it was introduces in the year 2007 and nearly, 2000 II nd generation electric cars were manufactured in between the years 2009 to 2012.

It is amazing to know that there already exist car with those characteristics. However, more than having electrical parts, a smart car must have other atractions. For example:

An electric car that can gauge its own battery life, by telling you where to find a charge station.
Full Android integration in vehicles from Audi, Honda, Hyundai, GM, BMW, and others. With Apple’s hands already in Ford, BMW, and several other brands, Google’s response to work the Android OS first into Audi came at this year’s CES. These cars will not only sync with your smartphone, but also upgrade their native software as needed.
Speaking of upgrades, an updated, predictive cruise control in Mercedes-Benz vehicles could, according to IBN, “adapt a vehicle’s engine revs and gear to suit the gradient of a slope.” Satellite maps are evolving, and Benz is working on vehicles that could upgrade themselves with their maps to make cruise control even easier.
Driverless cars. It seemed far-fetched in science fiction, but at CES this year, Delphi Automotive PLC, a provider of auto parts and technology to major manufacturers including Ford, GM, and Volvo, showed off a scenario that would include “autonomous driving lanes,” where smart cars could go on autopilot.
After reading all this info i just can say. I need a smart car!!!

YO-YO

THE YO-YO WAS INVENTED FOR FUN BUT ALSO entertain
AND WAS USED AS A WEAPON FOR PHIILIPPINES.
THE YO-YO HAD A POWERFUL GLOBAL
REACHING THE TIME OF FAME AND GLORY.
TODAY NOT SEEN THE BIG BOOM THAT WAS AT THAT TIME.
ALSO WE CAN RELATE THE YO-YO WITH OUR PERSONAL LIFE, SO THIS MIGHT WORK MUST BE UP AND DOWN, AND SO IS OUR LIFE, WE HAVE GOOD AND BAD TIMES AND THAT MATTERS IS HOW TO ENJOY THE GOOD TIMES AND HOW WE LEARN FROM BAD .
AND ALSO I THINK PEOPLE NOT MEASURED BY THE FALL TIMES BUT BY THE TIME RISING.

DID THE CHINESE DISCOVER AMERICA?

I DON'T KNOW IF THE CHINESE DISCOVERED AMERICA,  ALL THE TIME, I HAD THOUGHT THAT  COLUMBUS DICOVERED AMERICA, BECAUSE THERE ARE  EVIDENCE THE EXPEDITIONS THERE WAS MADE COLUMBUS (LETTERS AND NAVIGATION ROUTES).
ALL THIS, PROVES THAT COLUMBUS  DICOVERED AMERICA.
AND I THINK, IF THE CHINESE DISCOVERED OUR CONTINENT, WE SHOULD HAVE PHYSICAL TRAITS OF THEM AND EVIDENCE ABOUT THEIR DICOVERED.
AND MY OPINION, ONLY HAVE A HISTORY ABOUT THIS IN OUR BOOK.
Did the Chinese Discover America? by Wendy Santos CC0043

I agree with this theory, anybody with eyes can see that  is undeniable the similarities between american Indians and Chinese people. Colón and the other Spanish evil people took advantage of the explorations and discoveries of Zheng He.

This great Chinese commander who explored American territories 71 years before. On board of their powerful ships he brought about 27,000 people with him, among doctors, carpenters, scribes, astrologers, diplomats and more...

If the Emperor Yong Le had not lost his power to his son, and the boats had not been mothballed, American Continent would be pretty different of what it is today.

Would it be better or worst, what do you think?...
Ups and Downs of Yo-yos by Wendy Santos CC0043

Yo-yos just like the life has had its ups and downs. According to the text book first Yo-yos were invented in Greece 500 B.C., and were made of painted terracotta, wood and metal. The next trace was found in Mexico for the A.D. 700 among the Mayas culture. In 1765 in India, in a miniature box was found the image of a girl playing with a jeweled yoyo. In 1791 a painting shows King Louis XVIII playing with a yoyo.

More than just a toy it was used in different manners: like symbol of wealth in Europe and a tool to fight the stress and calm the anxiety.

Came to the USA in 1815, by two men from Ohio who took patents, but to the 20th Century it losts its appeal in North America and Europe.

In 1920 a Filipino named Pedro Flores invented a wooden new yoyo that was'nt tied to the axle, fact that made possible the performance of different tricks like "rock the baby", "brain twister" and "wald the dog". 1929 Pedro Flores sold the patent to Donald F. Duncan, entrepeneu and inventor of the parking meter.

Through publicity campaigns and demonstrations Duncan grew the succes of the Yoyo in the USA, making Wisconsin the Yo-yo's capital.
