MUSIC: A LIFE WITHOUT DIFFERENCES

In the world people and countries are divided, but there is one thing that overcomes out the differences and is the best way to express our feelings and breaking barriers. No matter who they are or where they are, it brings us all toguether: MUSIC. Music is a way to live without differences. When we are talking about it the following elements do not exist: social class, race, nationality or language.

First of all, the most obvious difference in society is that of the social classes, which does not permit different classes to be toguether. For instance, sometimes you can not visit places that a rich person visits because you do not have money, but in music those differences do not exist because you can hear the same music and enjoy it with the same emotion and it is not important if you are rich or poor.

Another factor is the discrimination against races. For example, in Dominican Republic and other countries there are places where black people are not allowed, but this does not exist in music. Your race is not important; you can sing and compose a song and it can be sung all over the world and it is not important if the singer or the composer is black or white.

I would like to continue mentioning the nationality in music that is not significant if you are Dominican or American or from another place, you can sing the same song in different languages, but with the same feeling.

Finally I can say that these three elements: the social class, race, and nationality or any other element do not stop the style that used the people through the music to express with liberty the feelings because music is a way to live.

"How I began to enjoy Baseball"

Like any other person, I had my favorite dominican baseball team ("El glorioso"), but I had never paid the due attention to any game. I didn't know the rules or what the real difference between a Home run and a foul ball was, but one night, watching TV, I was changing channels and I stopped in a game of the Atlanta Braves. That was the first team I became a fan. But I was never a real fan of baseball until I knew the New York Yankees; I loved those pinstriped uniforms from the first moment, so, I became a Yankee fan and I began to learn their story.

I think that, more than the emotion that brings the game itself, among the things that make Baseball an enthralling sport are the statistics. "What is the team that has won the biggest number of world series" "Who's the pitcher that has had more perfect games"... Everything in baseball is about a record that you must break and just, make history!! That's the reason why there are so many icons and legends, and names that will never be forgotten, we can see that a lot of teams have moved away lots of numbers of their uniforms, for example, no new player can wear the number 3 in his uniform in the N.Y. Yankees because that was the number of Babe Ruth, and it will always belong to him. Those kind of things make an exciting experience of every game, and this same things make bigger the origin of the controversy about steroids too because it's a dilemma if the diferent baseball association should decide eliminating records belonging to players that have been accused of steroid-taking; unfortunately, that's the case of Barry Bonds, the biggest home run hitter in the history of Major League Baseball.

The earliest reference to baseball is in a 1744 British publication, A Little Pretty Pocket Book, by hitting a thrown ball with a bat and touching a series of four bases arranged at the corners of a ninety-foot square, or diamond. Players on one team (the batting team) take turns hitting against the pitcher of the other team (the fielding team), which tries to stop them from scoring runs by getting hitters out in any of several ways. A player on the batting team can stop at any of the bases and later advance via a teammate`s hit or other means. the teams switch between batting and fielding whenever the fielding team records three outs. one turn at bat for each team constitutes an inning; nine innings make up a professional game. The team with the most runs at the end of the game wins.

In the mid-1850s, a baseball craze hit the New York metropolitan area. By 1856, local journals were refering to baseball as the national pastime or national game. A year later, sisteen area clubs formed sport`s first governing body, the national asociation of baseball players. in 1863, the organization disallowed putouts made bt catching a fair ball on the first bounce.
