        Urban Legends

Urban legends are story created by people and passed down through generation by word of mouth. This story are spread from person to person. This type of story always involve lots of strange things like ridiculous creature.

Sometimes some of these story come from true story, the problem is that sometimes the storyteller change a lot about them.

Easily it can be noticed the falsity of these stories as they begin involving all those fabulous characters, ridiculous creatures and all those unbelievable things.

Although I believe that life is strange and mysterious, I think they exaggerate a lot in these stories.

Smart cars.

Technology  has advanced a a lot,  I had no  heard about   Smart car  until I listened  my teacher  talking  about it in the English class.  I think  is not  easy  to comprehen  every datail and characteristic  about  Smart car.   I’ve  though after surfing in Internet  if any time I need to drive a Smart car it will be a nice experience for me.  Although  I’m not sure if I’d  get on it specially  if  not driver inside like this.

smart cars

Smart cars  are method or strategies  to the drivers , smart cars offers maximum comfort,
agitily, and safety, they have been perfectly designed for your everyday life, smart cars save on gas and some cases they need electricity. The first thing that you can notice  when you see smart cars are the size, in my opinion they are not comfortable for a big family, maybe  for the couple with two children but people have different reasons to buy a car not only for family.

Smart cars can reduce the numbers of accidents, they are created with this idea and use some
systems hat can help the location of the vehicle for recue and police units. The technology is one of the most importan aspects of smart cars, but how drivers can control all these automotive technology without distracting, example; voice control are distracting, buttons take more of the drivers'
attention, it is like at when we use a cell pnone while we are driving. Smart cars cannot solve all the problem, one the biggest problem is the traffic congestion. althought in the near future all of these change.

URBAN LEGENDS

urban Legends are incredible stories, sometimes scary or funny. Urban Legends contain
many folkloric elements and they spread quickly through a community or society. The tales are usually told dramatically, as if they are true stories  that happened to a real people, although they may in fact be fictional. Urban Legends have some significance that motivate the community in preserving and propagating it.

Urban Legends tend to focus on a current fear or cultural phenomenon  of the time, from the unbelievable to the possible. Urban Lengends satisfy a human desire to find entertainment and thrills within our deepest and darkest fears, but many urban legends have a combination of humor, embarrassment, appeal to empathy and moralizing,

Not all urban legends that we heard is telling the same way, they have different versions,,,, but if you enjoy hearing or telling urban legends internet is the best way to get stories, then you will have stories to tell to your friends.
                                                          My Dreamed Company

I have ever dream about having a hotel. Since I was a child I have dreamed about being  the CEO of my own company. I have been thinking about the name of it for a long time but it is kind of difficult to find the appropriate one, so that I have not gotten the name yet, but  I have all the details.

My hotel will be one of the most famous places known in the Caribbean. It will be located in a tourist area specifically in Bavaro. It will be a huge hotel nearby the beach with many interesting options and offers for our costumers. It will has nightclubs, golf course, swimming pool, range, a place to run  horses and bicycles, a movie theater, malls, and many other things. our staff will be one of the most qualified and prepared of the country. Each of our employees must talk more than tree languages. they will be workaholic and efficient. We will receive people from all around the world every year. As I said before  the main hotel will be located in Bavaro, but there will be many subsidiaries hotels countrywide. We will also have a language school for teaching our costumers any language the would be interested in. And we will have a program of activities called " exploring the country" in which our costumers will have the facility to travel all around the country  accompanied by our experts on Dominican culture.

This is an idea of my dream company. Which if God willing I will have someday.

                                                              Unit- 3. The Name Game.

Before studying this unit I did not know that there are lows to protect the names of the companies. I thought that  when someone created a company he or her could choose any name, no matter if it had  already been taken.

Looking for information in the internet, I  found this interesting article about how to choose a business name  by Alissa Gregory, who is an expert on business information.   http://www.sba.gov/content/how-name-business. I hope you enjoy it

Choose Your Business Name

Choosing a business name is an important step in the business planning process. Not only should you pick a name that reflects your brand identity, but you also need to ensure it is properly registered and protected for the long term. You should also give a thought to whether it’s web-ready. Is the domain name even available?
Here are some tips to help you pick, register, and protect your business name.
Factors to Consider When Naming Your Business
Many businesses start out as freelancers, solo operations, or partnerships. In these cases, it’s easy to fall back on your own name as your business name. While there’s nothing wrong with this, it does make it tougher to present a professional image and build brand awareness.
Here are some points to consider as you choose a name:
  • How will your name look? – On the web, as part of a logo, on social media.
  • What connotations does it evoke? – Is your name too corporate or not corporate enough? Does it reflect your business philosophy and culture? Does it appeal to your market?
  • Is it unique? – Pick a name that hasn't been claimed by others, online or offline. A quick web search and domain name search (more on this below) will alert you to any existing use.
  • Pick a Name That is Web-Ready
In order to claim a website address or URL, your business name needs to be unique and available. It should also be rich in key words that reflect what your business does. To find out if your business name has been claimed online, do a simple web search to see if anyone is already using that name.
Next, check whether a domain name (or web address) is available. You can do this using the WHOIS database of domain names.  If it is available, be sure to claim it right away. This guide explains how to register a domain name.
  • Register Your New Business Name
Registering a business name is a confusing area for new business owners. What does it mean and what are you required to do?
Registering your business name involves a process known as registering a “Doing Business As (DBA)” name or trade name. This process shouldn't be confused with incorporation and it doesn't provide trademark protection. Registering your “Doing Business As” name is simply the process of letting your state government know that you are doing business as a name other than your personal name or the legal name of your partnership or corporation. If you are operating under your own name, then you can skip the process.
                                               unite 2 - Urban Legends

In my opinion, this is a very interesting lesson. It reminds me the time when  I was a child and I used to visit my grandparents house. They used to tell me all kind of  stories and legends. One of my favorite is similar to the one about "The Vanishing Hitchhiker" that is mentioned in this unit, but instead of a girl, in the story that my grandfather told me, there is a nun who suddenly appear on the road and start talking with the persons and then, when they are in one of the most secluded parts of the road she disappear and just the sound of dogs barking insistently is heard. According to my grandpa, this nun was a woman who lived in the neighborhood specifically  in the area where she disappear.

I really like this story or legend. Even though now a days I think it is faked. There are many old people in my neighborhood who assure they have seen this nun and have talked to her. They say " She died but her spirit is still alive and present in the same road that she used to take everyday in her way to church".

True or false, urban legends are interesting. ones are funny others are gruesome, but each of them have either a moral or a lesson to teach us.
