My presentiation is about Haitians inmigrations in Dominican Republic, in this topic im going to talk about the cause and origen of Haitian inmigration and also the relationship between the two neighboring country.
First i´ll like to start with the causes:
For over a century, Haitians have been entering the country pacefully settling in abandoned farmland by Dominicans in the time of the first Republic. For more efforts made in the nineteenth to reach an agreement with Haiti, has never been possible to clarify the issue of borderers, as the treaty of 1874 was a flawed the instrument only could be clarified during the administration of Horacio Vasquez in 1929 but despite having signed on 21 jenuary of that year a treaty on setting limits, were living in the country tens of millions of Haitians working as laborers in the sugar industry or as servants in the homes of family or as farmers and small traders in the south and near the northwest frontier
The Haitians have been arriving in the Dominican Republic trying to escape social problems found in his home county of Haiti. In Haiti, the main social problem that occurs throughthout is racial discrimination and distribution of income. Although most Haitians are black, 95% of the total population, they have been discrimination against by the low number of Cubans who are in that country. Haitians Cuband have more in common with the classes of other countries.
Haitian inmigration to the Dominican Republic is directly related to the development of sugar industry in the country.
I asked some questions to Haitian people:
What are their opinion about cause of inmigration?
They told me that Dominican people abuse of them, the Dominican people give a job to Haitian people and they dont like to pay.
ORIGEN OF THE HAITIAN INMIGRATION
The Dominican sugar industry began its great expansion after the second world war and found a source close to the recruitment of Haitians to cut cane during the harvest. The Haitian labor turned out to be cheaper due to the econmic and marked conditions present and the abuse that originated the lack of alternatives, including for paltry living.
Historically, it has been reported that Haitian wrokers who cross the border to work in sugar cane crops in the Dominican Republic heve been subjected to all kinds of abuses by the authorities, from mureder, abuses, mass expulsions, exploitation, conditions deplorable living and lack of recognition of their rights.
RELATIONSHIP BETWENN HAITI AND DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
Have always been marked by conflict and confrntation, a situation inherited from colonial rule, which had metropolitan interests Island as a backdrop. The most important fact has contributed to making this way of relationships, is that Haitians occupied the Dominican territory for 22 years, so the country became independent not a European metropolis, but Haitian. These relationas were marked negativelu by confrontations and political disturbances the distorted the goals of peace and friendship between the two neighboring countries.
Haiti is a much poorer country than the Dominican Republic, i think that the Haitians cross to Dominican Republic for their situations in his home country, in Haiti there are a lot of poor people.
I THINK THAT HAITIAN CROSS THE BORDER TO WORK IN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC,BECAUSE IN HIS HOME COUNTRY THERE ARENT GOOD JOB BUT IN THIS COUNTRY HAVE BEEN SUBJECTED TO ALL KINDS OF ABUSES BY AUTHORITIES.
WHAT DOMINICAN PEOPLE THINK ABOUT HAITIAN INMIGRATION
he think that is a problem because in this country there are about 1 millions of haitian
my best friend think that in dominican republic there are bad people she say that she hate racial discrimination
I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY IN THE WORLD THERE ARE A LOT OF RACIAL DISCRIMINATION IF WE ARE SAME IN THE END.
