This is the
first Japanese placer who won a spot on a U.S. team as long as 1914. Mikami
Goro was born on November 6, 1889
in Kofu, capital of the Yamanashi, came to the United
States to attend graduate school but ended up playing in the now defunct
Federal League for two years. Mikami became the firs japanese professional
baseball player.
Mikami died of a gastric perforation in 1958
