Smart Cars

Smart cars are very technological vehicles which have a complete computerized system. They have many devices all over such as sensors, radars, computers, etc.

In our English class we talked about this kind of cars. We had student-teacher interaction, and we also talked about the possibility of having smart cars here, in the Dominican Republic.

In my opinion, we cannot have this kind of cars at this moment; we do not have the conditions.

The following are some reasons:

First, we do not have appropriate highways in which we can ride these cars. For riding them, we need intelligent highways. For example, we (some students and the teacher) mentioned Duarte Highway; here there is a little description about it. It has no light; it has many holes in it; and there are many animals around at night.

Second, we have a very much disorganized transportation, Dominicans drive in a crazy way, public buses stop in the middle of the streets to get on or get off passengers.

Finally, but not less important, we have a terrible lack of money. These cars are expensive enough and the majority of people here cannot afford them.

If all this cons did not exist, we could have smart cars and, fortunately, we could save much time when going to distant places, and we also could be safer.
